Game Recap: Softball | 3/21/2025
Stroudsburg, Pa. - The East Stroudsburg University softball team continued their impressive season by sweeping a doubleheader against Shippensburg University at Creekview Park. The Warriors secured a 2-1 victory in the first game and edged out a 3-2 win in extra innings in the second, improving their record to 20-4 overall and 4-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East division.
Game 1: ESU 2, Shippensburg 1
In a tightly contested opener, both teams remained scoreless through the first four innings. Shippensburg broke the deadlock in the top of the fifth with an RBI single.
The Warriors responded in the bottom of the sixth with a 2 hit, 2 run inning. D. Ridgell led off with a single, followed by K. Master reaching on a walk. Bases were loaded when S. Edelman reached base on a walk as well. L. Tangianau drew a third consecutive walk, forcing in the tying run. T. Lipkins then delivered a clutch RBI single to give ESU a 2-1 lead.
Pitcher
Sarah Davenport (14-0) continued her dominant season, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out 13 in a complete-game effort.
Game 2: ESU 3, Shippensburg 2 (8 innings)
Shippensburg struck first in the game two, scoring a run in the opening frame on a sacrifice fly. ESU answered in the second inning when A. Weirich launched a solo home run to tie the game. Later in the inning, S. Edelman singled, and a fielding error allowed K. Proepper to score, giving the Warriors a 2-1 advantage.
The Raiders tied the game in the seventh with an RBI single, sending the contest into extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth, T. Lipkins singles, T. Kresley reached on an error by the shortstop, advancing T. Lipkins to third. T. Mingin came through with the walk-off, RBI single to secure the win for the Warriors.
Abbie Landrum (2-0) earned the win, pitching 7 innings.

The Warriors will continue PSAC East play at home, hosting Shepherd University on March 22 at Creekview Park for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
