EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University softball team split its doubleheader against Shepherd in a pair of pitching duels, with each team's undefeated pitcher securing a win.
The Warriors (21-5, 5-1) won Game 1 on a walk-off single by
Tatum Kresley, driving in
Georgia Tym in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 1-0 victory over the Rams (8-10, 4-2). Shepherd took Game 2, 2-0.
Pitching Highlights
Sarah Davenport (15-0) threw a 10-inning complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out 14 batters.
Faith Troyer delivered a strong performance in Game 2, pitching seven innings while allowing one earned run and striking out six.
Hitting Highlights
Tatum Kresley, who delivered the walk-off single in Game 1, reached base safely four times in the doubleheader with three hits and a walk.
Taylor Lipkins reached base safely three times, recording two hits and a walk.
Game 1: How It Happened
Both offenses had scoring opportunities, but strong pitching kept the game scoreless. Shepherd stranded runners in the second inning, while ESU left two on base in the third, fifth, sixth and eighth.
In the 10th inning,
Lace Tangianau was replaced by
Georgia Tym as the runner on second base. After a walk by
Taylor Lipkins,
Tatum Kresley stepped up to the plate and drilled a single into the outfield, securing the walk-off win and sealing her heroics in Game 1.
Game 2: How It Happened
Troyer turned in another quality start, but Shepherd's pitching held ESU's offense in check. The Rams scored twice to secure a 2-0 win.
