EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced Tuesday that East Stroudsburg University's
Emily Chmiel has been named to the 2024-25 Women's Basketball All-America Second Team.
Chmiel continues to add to her impressive list of accolades, earning her second All-America honor of the season after being recognized by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) last week. She is the only Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) player to receive both WBCA and D2CCA All-America honors this season.
With this recognition, Chmiel becomes the first Warrior in program history to be named a D2CCA All-American and the first ESU player to earn a spot on an All-America team, as previous honorees received honorable mention.
She joins an elite group of Warriors to receive All-America honors, alongside Stacy Perryman (1995), Tonia Lloyd (1990), and Gaye Chapman (1994). Perryman was the last ESU player to earn All-America recognition.
In 28 games this season, Chmiel averaged 22.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game while shooting 52% from the field in her second and final season with the Warriors. She led all of NCAA Division II in double-doubles, ranked third nationally in rebounds per game, and finished fifth in scoring. Chmiel also broke the program's single-season scoring record, surpassing Perryman's 30-year mark.
The team is sponsored by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, which encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
