Dewees, Woods Blank Huskies; No. 12 Warriors Sweep Friday Doubleheader

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The No. 12 East Stroudsburg University baseball team swept Friday's doubleheader against Bloomsburg, winning 1-0 and 3-0 at Creekview Park.

The Warriors (18-6, 4-2) shut down the Huskies (9-14, 1-5) with dominant pitching and just enough offense to take the first day of the two-day, four-game series.

Pitching Highlights
Ryan Dewees (5-0) delivered arguably his best start of the season, throwing a complete-game shutout on just 80 pitches. He struck out six over seven innings.

Not to be outdone, Ethan Woods (3-1) also pitched a complete-game shutout, his first as a Warrior, striking out five and needing only 72 pitches over seven innings.

Hitting Highlights
Shanley Wall drove in the lone run in Game 1 with an RBI double in the third inning. He finished the day with two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Walker Zampella put himself in scoring position multiple times with three stolen bases in the first game. He ended the day with two walks and a hit.

Game 1: How It Happened
Scoring was scarce, but both teams had baserunners, combining to leave 10 on base.

In the third inning, Wall put ESU on top with an RBI double to drive in Francisco Taveras.

Dewees continued to silence the Huskies as the Warriors secured the 1-0 victory.

Game 2: How It Happened
Jack Rothenhausler got ESU going early, connecting on a 2-1 pitch for an RBI double to score Wall in the first inning.

The Warriors added insurance runs in the fifth. After Ryan Manning singled and was moved over by Connor Reilly, Taveras delivered an RBI single.

Following a Dennis Pierce single, Wall hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Taveras. ESU closed out the 3-0 win to take the first of two weekend doubleheaders against Bloomsburg.
