ESU Extends Winning Streak to 11 in Game 1 but Falls in Game 2

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team split its doubleheader against Frostburg State on Friday, ending the team's 11-game winning streak.

The Warriors (11-1) won the first game in a come-from-behind, walk-off victory but fell short in game two as the Bobcats (7-3) used clutch pitching to secure the win.

Pitching notables
In Game 1, Jake Albert (2-0) entered with the Warriors down three runs and pitched three perfect innings, allowing the offense to rally and earning the win.

Despite the loss in Game 2, Gavin Sopko and Johansel Brito combined to allow just one earned run over seven innings.

Batting notables
Shanley Wall reached base safely three times across both games, drawing a walk and recording two hits, including an RBI double in Game 2.

Parker Frey had a hit in both games and drew two walks in Game 1, including the game-winning, walk-off walk in the ninth inning.

Chaise Albus reached base safely three times in the doubleheader and delivered a two-RBI single in the sixth inning of Game 1.

Game 1
Frostburg State struck first with a two-RBI triple in the second inning and added another run in the third. ESU's bats were quiet until the sixth inning, when Frey started a two-out rally with a single.

After a Walker Zampella walk and a passed ball, Albus drove in two runs with a single to bring the Warriors within one. Connor Reilly later tied the game with an RBI single after a Ryan Manning walk.

Originally scheduled for seven innings, the game extended to the ninth, where ESU showed patience at the plate. Frey drew a bases-loaded walk, sealing the Warriors' walk-off victory.

Game 2
Both offenses struggled to push runs across, with all scoring occurring in a single inning. In the fifth, the Bobcats plated two runs without recording a hit. In the bottom half, Wall delivered an RBI double, bringing home ESU's only run.

The Warriors threatened in the final inning as Jackson Rutecki led off with a double to put the tying run on base. After a lineout to second, Zampella reached on a hit-by-pitch, representing the potential winning run. However, the next two batters were retired, handing ESU its first loss of the season.
