EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team turned in several standout performances on Day 2 of the Carol & John Covert Classic at Lehigh University.
PSAC Automatic Qualifier
Alex Chobany (800 meters) recorded a PSAC automatic qualifying time.
Running Highlights
Riley Trentowski climbed the PSAC rankings in the 1,500 meters after lowering her season best to 4:43.61, the seventh-fastest time in program history, to finish second overall.
Payton Falkenstein ran a personal-best 4:46.04 to finish fourth. Holly Chambers followed closely in fifth with a season-best 4:48.62.
Carla Bautista (4:59.17), Mia Sisilli (5:01.77), Sidney Hutt (5:03.61), Gabriela Orama (5:06.85), Marissa McDougall (5:10.22) and Megan Elgrim (6:16.72) also turned in strong efforts for the Warriors in the 1,500 meters.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Makayla Smith earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 15.64. Anthonette Bantamoi added a personal-best 15.64 to place inside the top 10.
Freshman Aubrey Bonner finished among the top 10 in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.12.
In the 800 meters, Chobany posted a collegiate-best 2:22.24 to notch a conference-qualifying mark and a ninth-place finish. Hannah Skelly also set a personal best, placing 10th in 2:22.86.
Tara Haring (2:30.74), Lilah Matthews (2:34.83, PR), Marissa McDougall (2:34.83), and Carolina Kaczmarek (2:35.30) rounded out ESU's efforts in the event.
Bantamoi recorded her second personal best of the day by running 1:13.55 in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 5,000 meters, Kiera Wimbush placed seventh with a time of 19:57.16.
Field Highlights
Gertrude Moenga recorded a personal best in the shot put, throwing 10.49 meters (34-5).
LeAnn Grier reached a mark of 4.99 meters (16-4½) in the long jump.
Elyssa Pemu cleared 1.46 meters (4-9¾) to finish sixth in the high jump.
Fiona Engelman launched a personal-best throw of 33.00 meters (108-3) in the discus.
In the pole vault, Aina Galan and Reese Ruggiero each cleared 3.30 meters (10-10) to place seventh and eighth, respectively.
