EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University baseball team won 4-1 in Game 1 of the Atlantic Super Regional against Seton Hill and is now one win away from the Division II College World Series in Cary, North Carolina.
Notables
Ryan Dewees excelled in his five innings of work, striking out four and allowing just one run on three hits.
Chaise Albus had a big day at the plate, hitting two triples, including one in the seventh inning that drove in ESU's fourth run.
Francisco Taveras and
Parker Frey also recorded multiple hits for the Warriors. Frey hit a double and drove in the team's second run, while Taveras collected two singles.
The bullpen continued to deliver, as
Jake Albert (1.0 inning, 1 strikeout),
Johansel Brito (1.0 inning, 1 strikeout),
Ryan Cavanaugh (1.0 inning, 1 strikeout), and
Caden Parker (1.0 inning, save) kept Seton Hill scoreless over the final four frames.
Jack Rothenhausler delivered an RBI double in the first inning—his 64th RBI of the season—which set a new school record.
How It Happened
ESU struck first with two runs in the opening inning against Seton Hill's Ian Korn, the NCBWA Pitcher of the Year. After a triple by Albus, Rothenhausler hit a two-out double down the left-field line to score him. Rothenhausler then scored on a single by Frey.
The Griffins cut the deficit to one with an RBI single in the fifth, but the Warriors answered in the sixth with an RBI single by
Easton Albert to score Frey. Albus added insurance in the seventh with his second triple of the game, driving in the fourth and final run.

The Atlantic Super Regional champion will be decided Saturday. ESU needs one win to advance to the College World Series in Cary, North Carolina. Game 1 begins at noon. If Seton Hill wins, a winner-take-all Game 2 will follow at 3 p.m.
