JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's volleyball team (9-3, 0-0 PSAC) fell in four sets (18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-27) against Pitt.-Johnstown (10-3, 1-0 PSAC) on Friday evening at the Sports Center.
Notables
Anna Coulter led the Warriors' attack with 13 kills on a .323 hitting percentage and added two service aces for a team-high 16.0 points.
Kata Kovacs distributed 20 assists while contributing three aces and five digs.
Marta Leeland anchored the defense with a team-best 20 digs.
Kyra Bishop had a highly efficient night, hitting .500 with five kills and recording 16 assists.
Allison Birtcil paced the team defensively at the net with three block assists and added 11 digs.
How It Happened
Set 1 (18-25): Pitt.-Johnstown took the first set after a competitive start that saw seven tie scores and one lead change. The Mountain Cats hit .269 in the opening frame, while the Warriors were held to a .063 hitting percentage.
Set 2 (25-21): ESU bounced back to even the match at one set apiece. The Warriors posted their best offensive set of the night, recording 14 kills with a .270 hitting percentage to secure the win.
Set 3 (19-25): The Mountain Cats regained control, winning the third set to take a 2-1 lead in the match. ESU's offense struggled in the frame and the team was unable to take momentum away from Pitt-Johnstown.
Set 4 (25-27): The final set was the most tightly contested, featuring 14 tie scores and three lead changes. The Warriors produced their most efficient offensive effort with 13 kills on just one error for a .333 hitting percentage. However, Pitt.-Johnstown's offense was even stronger, registering 21 kills on .381 hitting to close out the match.
