EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's basketball team picked up a blowout win over Bloomsburg on Tuesday night with a 106-70 victory over the Huskies. ESU moved to 5-3 against PSAC opponents and 11-4 overall.
NOTABLES
- Jalen Pichardo recorded the first double-double of his career and of the season for the Warriors, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Pichardo has grabbed double-digit rebounds in four games and scored 10 or more points three times before tonight.
- Ethan Maynard put up an efficient 18 points on 7-10 shooting from the field and 4-6 from distance. Maynard was great at distributing the ball, picking up four assists, and creating turnovers, generating five steals.
- Ethan Millirons had one of his best nights shooting the ball from three-point range of the season, going 4-5. He finished the night with one more field goal for a total of 14 points.
- Nasir Griffin, Christian Pierre-Louis, and Adrian Brito all reached double-figures in scoring, giving ESU six players with 10+ points.
- Saleem Payne posted a season-high in assists, finishing with six. The junior guard has recorded an assist in all eight games he's played, now averaging 2.5 APG.
- Shane Crissman came in at the end of the game and made his first career three-pointer while also grabbing three rebounds in four minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through the first five minutes, Bloomsburg kept it close as the Huskies only trailed 10-9. After Terrell Pitts scored a layup with 14:22 remaining, and from that point on, ESU outscored Bloomsburg 53-16 to end the half. Pichardo, Millirons, and Maynard all scored 10 points during the run, as Carson Howard added seven points as well. ESU shot 67.8% from the field and 60.0% from three-point range while limiting the Huskies to shooting 41.2% from the field and committing 16 turnovers.
- The Huskies treaded water in the second half, actually outscoring the Warriors 45-43 in the final 20 minutes, but never made a push that got the game within reach. ESU got playing time for players like Crissman, Lual Manyang, and Milan Dean, with Manyang recording a three-pointer and Dean securing a rebound.
GAME NOTES
- The Warriors have won 10 straight against the Huskies, winning by an average margin of 25.3 PPG during this stretch. It's also the third time in the last four meetings the Warriors have won by at least 30 points.
- The Warriors never trailed in the game, leading for 38:14 and peaking at 41 points.
