Warriors Drop 76-47 Decision to the Bald Eagles

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- Despite strong first and third quarters, the East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team was unable to maintain momentum, falling to Lock Haven, 76-47. 

With tonight's results, the Warriors dropped to 11-7 on the season and 6-5 in conference play, while Lock Haven improved to 10-5 on the season and 7-3 in the PSAC. 

Notables 

Jess Devine led the Warriors with 14 points, grabbed two rebounds, and had three assists. Brie Droege followed with 11 points, three steals, and two rebounds. Avery White rounded out the top scorers with seven points, one assist, and two steals. Caitlin Marten led the team with seven rebounds and two blocks.  

How it Happened 

Marten and Brie made the first two baskets to put ESU on the board, 4-0. Lock Haven tied the score at four apiece at the 6:18 mark. ESU pushed the score to 10-6 with a Brie three-pointer at 4:59 and a Devine layup at 3:31. LHU and ESU traded baskets and layups from Brie and Devine pushed ESU ahead, 16-10. Lock Haven ended the quarter with a three-pointer at 0:43 and two made free throws to pull within one, 16-15. 

In the second quarter, Lock Haven outscored East Stroudsburg 19-7. White scored the first basket in the second quarter at 7:37, 18-15. A 10-0 run from the Bald Eagles ended with a three-pointer from White at the 3:59 mark. Lock Haven went on another nine-point run that extended the Warrior's deficit to 13 points, 34-21. Brie added the final basket and was assisted by Devine, as the Warriors went into halftime down 34-23. 

White opened the third quarter with a jumper at 9:31. Lock Haven used a 13-3 run to extend their lead to 20 points, 47-27. ESU added a layup from Emma Thornton and a three-pointer from Devine around the 5:20 mark. Peyton Long converted a three-point play at 4:13 to pull the Warriors within 15 points, 51-36. The Bald Eagles followed with a 9-3 run, while ESU ended the quarter with a three-pointer and one from Devine.  

Lock Haven outscored East Stroudsburg 16-4 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors' lone baskets came at 6:01 by Thornton and at 0:47 by Sylar Soltis.
