Aina Galan Breaks School Record in Pole Vault at DeSchriver Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University women's track and field team won eight events and added one PSAC qualifying mark along with an NCAA provisional at the 26th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Sunday.

Track Events 

Ayanna Paige placed second in the 55m with a 7.59 time, while Autumn McNutt placed fifth (8.04).  Eyinah Smith's time of 8.74 in the 55m hurdles ranks her 10th all time, while Karla Tshiyonga followed with a third place finish (8.94). 

Anthonette Bantamoi placed second in the 400m with a time of 1:07.13, while Lilah Matthews took first in the 600m, crossing the line at 1:48.83. 

Kiera Wimbush took first in the 5000m, Sidney Hutt finished second, while Megan Elgrim rounded out the Warriors in third. Wimbush recorded an automatic PSAC qualifying mark with a time of 18:44.27. The distance medley relay consisting of Ashley Landis, Morgan Salmon, Hannah Skelly, and Riley Trentowski finished first with a time of 12:46.14. 

Field Events 

Aina Galan highlighted the field events with a record breaking performance in the pole vault, recording an NCAA provisional mark. Her vault of 3.75m (12-3 1/2) broke the school record of 12-2 ¾ set by Nickolina Annelli in 2024. Reese Ruggiero placed second in the pole vault (3.55m, 11-7 ¾). 

In the long jump, Paige placed first with a jump of 5.18m (17-0), while McNutt placed third (4.83m, 15-10 ¼). 

In  the high jump, both Porschia Bennett and Shannon Harnett recorded jumps of 1.73m (5-8). Harnett's mark ties her with Bennett for fourth all time in program history. 

Harnett took first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.36m (37-3 ¼), while Tshiyonga placed second (10.65m, 34-11 ¼) and Ruggiero placed third (10.61m, 34-9 ¾).  

Gabriela Pifano's throw of 12.88m (42-3 ¼) in the shot put ranks her sixth all time. In the shot put, Emily Edelman placed second, Gertrude Moenga placed fourth, and Anastasia Drakes placed sixth. In the weight throw, Bailey Grassmann and Emily Edelman placed in the top five.
