Warriors’ Offense Powers Doubleheader Sweep of Molloy

STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team extended its winning streak to six games after sweeping Molloy in a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Creekview Park. The Warriors took the first game 10-0 and the second game 2-1.

Game 1
On the mound, Sarah Davenport (W, 5-2), allowed just three hits, gave up no runs, and struck out 13.

Tulana Mingin went 3-for-3 at the plate, scored one run, and had one RBI. Gigi DeMito recorded two hits, one run, and four RBIs. Delaney Ridgell, Marissa Perez, Megan Chroniger, and Katie Master all scored two runs for the Warriors.

The Warriors got on the board in the first inning when Kinsley Proepper's RBI single scored Perez.

ESU added six more runs on seven hits and two errors in the third inning. The first three batters loaded the bases with a single from Mingin, Perez reaching on an error, and a base hit from Ridgell. Mingin later scored on a sacrifice fly by Proepper, while Perez crossed the plate on Chroniger's RBI single to right field. Chroniger advanced to second on a catcher's error as Ridgell scored to make it 4-0. Hits from Master and DeMito brought home Chroniger and Master, extending the lead to 6-0. DeMito later scored ESU's final run of the inning on Mingin's RBI single to shortstop.

DeMito's double to left field in the bottom of the fourth scored Master, Chroniger, and Ridgell to put the Warriors ahead, 10-0.

The Lion recorded a hit in the top of the fifth but were unable to make a comeback, giving ESU a run-rule victory in five innings.

Molloy got on the board with an RBI single up the middle in the top of the fifth.

ESU responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-RBI single from Master that scored Chroniger and Proepper.
