SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team split Saturday's doubleheader at Shepherd, winning the first game 4-2 before falling 3-1 in the second game.
Game 1Â
The Warriors used home runs from Kinsley Proepper and Gigi DeMito to take the first game, 4-2. Sarah Davenport recorded a season-best 14 strikeouts, improving her record to 7-4.Â
In the first inning, Tulana Mingin reached on an error and then stole second. Mingin advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Proepper's home run to right field, 2-0.
The Warriors extended their lead to 3-0 in the fifth inning. Macy Crum doubled, then advanced to third on a groundout. Marissa Perez drew a walk and stole second, while Crum stole home.
The Rams scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth. Shepherd began the inning with two singles before a triple to left center scored two runs.
ESU added its final run in the sixth inning when DeMito homered to left field.
Game 2Â
Shepherd scored three early runs in the bottom of the second inning on one hit and an error. The Rams drew a walk and reached base on an error before a three-RBI home run cleared the bases.
In the fourth, Proepper singled to shortstop, advanced to second on a groundout, and moved to third on Kaitlynn Colangelo's single to right field. Proepper then scored on a passed ball while Colangelo advanced to second.

The Warriors return to action on Tuesday, March 24, when they host Kutztown for a doubleheader at Creekview Park.
