STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University baseball team split Friday afternoon's doubleheader against Shepherd, winning the opener 5-3 before falling 7-1 in game two.

The Warriors are now 31-13 overall and 17-7 in conference play.

Game 1

Cole Serfass led the way, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. Troy Davis, Connor Reilly, Christian Maccarrone, and Gabe Gillespie each added a hit, while Davis, Reilly, Walker Zampella, and Parker Frey all crossed the plate.

Kyle Phillips earned his first win of the season, and Cole Dymek picked up his fifth save.

Shepherd took an early lead in the second inning, scoring two runs on three errors.

The Warriors answered in the fifth when Reilly singled, stole second, and eventually scored on Gillespie's RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.

ESU took the lead in the sixth, scoring four runs on three hits. Davis led off with a double to left center before Zampella drew a walk. Both runners then scored on Serfass's two-RBI double to right center to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Serfass later scored on a groundout, and Frey came home on Maccarrone's RBI single to extend the lead to 5-2.

Shepherd added a run in the seventh, but ESU held on for the 5-3 victory.

Game 2

Davis recorded two hits and scored the Warriors lone run, while Serfass batted him in. Serfass, Ryan Manning, Maccarrone, and Easton Albert each recorded a hit.

The Warriors got on the board early, as Davis doubled down the left field line and scored on Serfass's RBI double to left field in the first inning.

However, Shepherd responded with seven unanswered runs. The Rams scored four runs in the fourth inning and added three more in the sixth on a three-run home run to secure the 7-1 win.
