EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After wrapping up the regular season with a historic win over Bloomsburg, the ESU women's tennis team heads into its PSAC Tournament quarterfinals matchup against Edinboro with plenty of momentum for a potential postseason run.

SCOUTING EAST STROUDSBURG
  • The Warriors opened the spring with three straight wins before taking a loss in the middle of a series of matches in Orlando, Fla. That win, however, seems to have been the motivation the team needed to kickstart a historic winning streak. Having won the last 12 matches since, this streak marks the most consecutive wins in a season, smashing the previous record of seven, set last year.
  • This stretch saw ESU matchup against PSAC East opponents five times. Of these teams, Millersville, West Chester, and Bloomsburg, will also be competing for the conference championship. Also competing from the West is California (Pa.), which the Warriors defeated, 5-2, in March.
  • Home court has been a huge advantage for the Warriors. Through five home matches, they have yet to fall at Wolbers Courts.
  • ESU enters the matchup with Ariel Kelsick serving as the reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week. The junior has earned the honors three times this season, being named in back-to-back weeks to close out the regular season. Kelsick competes from the top of the lineup in doubles competition with her partner, Jenna Kastell. The duo has yet to lose a set against conference opponents while going 9-1 in the last 10 matches. Individually, Kelsick has been a top performer for ESU all season, boasting a 17-6 record in singles. In the last week, Kelsick spent time competing as the No. 1 in singles as well, going undefeated at the top spot.
  • Kastell has found her spot in singles play as well, being a consistent No. 3 for the team. From this position, the sophomore has gone 7-2. While competing outside of her usual spot, she's found just as much success. From the spot higher, she has notched two wins while being undefeated as the No. 4.
  • The Warriors' main competitor at the top of the lineup is Lea Stefanovic, another three-time PSAC East Athlete of the Week this season. Stefanovic has picked up two wins against PSAC teams, serving as a strong contributor to ESU's undefeated streak within the conference. While paired with Theresa Bauer for doubles play, the two have been nearly unstoppable, losing just three of their 14 matches together, with a 4-1 record in the conference.
  • Bauer has been a dominant force in doubles, holding the most wins on the team with 19. She's gone 9-1 in the last 10 matches, with four wins from the conference. The freshman has also been exceptional in singles competition from the No. 6 spot, holding a seven-match win streak, tied with Bega Gotor for the longest on the team.
  • With the most singles wins for ESU is Audrey Conover, tying Kelsick. She's gone undefeated against the conference, posting a 17-7 season-long record while playing from multiple positions in the middle of the lineup, closing at a consistent No. 5, where she has yet to lose a match.

SCOUTING EDINBORO
  • Edinboro ended itsregular season winning two conference matches in a row, but faced four consecutive losses to teams also competing in the PSAC Tournament just before.
  • The Fighting Scots finished with a .500 record in the conference, going 6-11 overall, with all of those losses coming in the spring portion of the season while putting up just five wins in that time.
  • Edinboro has struggled on the road this season. When not competing on their own courts, the Fighting Scots have gone 3-10, with three of those losses coming from opponents around the PSAC.

SERIES HISTORY
  • ESU has seen Edinboro three times in program history, the last was in the 2019-2020 season. The Fighting Scots have had the upper hand in the series, defeating the Warriors in all three matches.
