MANSFIELD, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team recorded its fourth consecutive shutout on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Mansfield in a doubleheader. The Warriors won the first game 3-0 before earning a run-rule victory in game two, 12-0.
With the sweep, ESU improved to 20-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play.
Game 1
Sarah Davenport improved to 11-6 on the season as she recorded her eighth game with double-digit strikeouts with 11. She held Mansfield to just one hit.
The Warriors broke through in the fourth inning with solo home runs from Delaney Ridgell and Kinsley Proepper. ESU added another run in the sixth when Crum walked, advanced on a Ridgell single and a fielder's choice, and later scored on Megan Chroniger's sacrifice fly to left field.
Game 2
Tessa Guenette improved to 8-2 on the season, allowing just two hits while striking out two.
The Warriors' offense exploded, with Tulana Mingin, Karlye Teman, Proepper, and Chroniger each scoring twice, while four others added runs. Mingin, Proepper, Kaitlynn Colangelo, and Katie Master recorded two hits apiece, with seven additional players contributing hits.
Faith Troyer led the team with three RBIs, while Master, Chroniger, and Maddy Pritchard each drove in two.
ESU jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning behind seven hits, added two runs in the second, and scored four more in the fourth to secure a run-rule victory in five innings.
