Softball Closes Regular Season with Senior Day Sweep

STROUDSBURG, Pa. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team wrapped up the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Mansfield on Senior Day. The Warriors opened with an 8-0 run-rule victory in six innings before rallying for a 3-2 win in the second game.

Game 1 

Sarah Davenport earned the win to improve to 20-8, striking out 14 batters. 

Tulana Mingin, Karlye Teman, Marissa Perez, and Delaney Ridgell each recorded two hits, while Maddin Grow added one. Ridgell led the team with five RBIs and scored one run, while Grow also scored a run. Mingin, Teman, and Perez each scored twice. 

Mingin led off the bottom of the first with a triple to left and later scored on Ridgell's sacrifice fly. ESU added three runs on three hits in the third inning. Teman and Perez recorded back-to-back hits before Mingin drew a walk to load the bases. Ridgell followed with a three-RBI double to left, clearing the bases for a 4-0 lead.

The Warriors extended their advantage to 7-0 in the fifth, plating three runs on three hits and two errors. Recording hits and scoring were Perez, Grow, and Ridgell. In the sixth, Teman doubled to left center and came home on Mingin's RBI single to left, sealing the 8-0 run-rule victory.

Game 2 

Tessa Guenette picked up the win, improving to 12-5 on the season.

Despite an early two-run deficit, ESU completed the comeback in the sixth inning, scoring three runs on two hits. Grow drew a walk and advanced on Ridgell's double to left center before both scored on Megan Chroniger's two-RBI triple to left center. Chroniger then scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch to make it 3-2.

Davenport came in to pitch the top of the seventh, striking out the final three batters to record her third save of the season.

The Warriors return to action on Wednesday, May 6, against Slippery Rock in the PSAC Tournament.
