BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The East Stroudsburg University softball team bounced back in Friday afternoon's elimination game with a 7-3 victory over IUP to advance to Championship Saturday and a chance to defend their title.

Sarah Davenport earned the win, improving to 23-9 on the season while striking out 11. With her 10th strikeout, the junior reached 1,000 career strikeouts and became just one of five pitchers in the PSAC to reach this milestone.
Tulana Mingin had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four stolen bases. Maddin Grow added two hits, two runs scored, and a pair of RBIs. Kinsley Proepper, Brennan Corr, and Katie Master each recorded a hit. Proepper and Master both drove in two runs, while Corr notched her first career hit with an RBI.
How it Happened
The Warriors scored two early runs in the first inning on one hit. Mingin drew a walk and stole second, then scored on Grow's RBI single down the right field line. Grow advanced to second on the throw and third on a passed ball, while both Proepper and Megan Chroniger drew walks to load the bases. Master then hit a sacrifice fly that scored Grow, 2-0.
In the second, the Warriors scored four additional runs on four hits to extend their lead to 6-0. Marissa Perez drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third on Mingin's single to shortstop. Mingin then stole second before Grow's sacrifice bunt allowed Perez to score. Proepper then delivered a two-RBI triple down the left field line, scoring Mingin and Grow to make the score 5-0. Pinch runner Corr then scored on Master's RBI double to right center, 6-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, IUP scored its first run on two hits with an RBI double to right center.
In the sixth inning, Mingin recorded her third hit of the day before swiping her fourth stolen base. Corr then tallied her first career hit with an RBI single to right field, scoring Mingin and extending the lead to 7-1.
Davenport recorded her 1,000th career strikeout with her 10th in the bottom of the sixth inning.
IUP scored its final two runs in the seventh on an RBI single and RBI double.
