KUTZTOWN - Sophomore Christina O'Connor hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in the high jump to highlight East Stroudsburg University's performances at the Kutztown Invitational on Thursday and Friday.

O'Connor cleared 5-7 1/4, a career indoor or outdoor best and tied for the fourth-best indoor mark in school history.

She was one of seven individual winners for the Warriors. Other victors were junior Rachel Pierantozzi in the 55m dash (career-best 7.34), sophomore Imani Rosario in the 500m (1:21.97), senior Lauren Ventrella in the 55m hurdles (8.53), sophomore Damien Boham in the 400m (51.01), senior Mike Saparito in the 1000m (2:36.85) and freshman William Berry in the high jump (6-4 3/4).

ESU also won the men's 4x800m relay with Saparito, junior Chris Schneider, Boham and senior Frank Fezza running 8:21.36.

Fezza, Schneider and senior Amr Aldeen made their season debuts after leading the Warriors to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the first time since 1989. Fezza, ESU's first All-American since 1986, was fourth in the 3000m in 9:07.67, followed by Schneider in sixth in 9:18.19. Aldeen was second in the mile in 4:33.72.

The Warriors had several runner-up finishes including senior Aniyah Williams, who scored 3,007 points in the pentathlon, fourth-most in school history, in her first time competing in the event. She had marks of 8.89 in the 55m hurdles, 4-9 3/4 in the high jump, 29-4 3/4 in the shot put, 16-8 1/2 in the long jump and 2:39.65 in the 800m run.

Junior Theresa Horn, who was third in the heptathlon at last year's PSAC Outdoor Championships, was fourth with 2,736 points, including a career-best 9.49 in the 55m hurdles.

Sophomore Brandon Mercer was second in the 55m hurdles in 6.59 and freshman Adam Robertino was second in the 55m hurdles in 8.07. Senior Kyle Soden ran 8.08 in the prelims and was fifth in the finals in 8.25. He was also third in the high jump (6-2 3/4). Berry was fifth in the 200m in 23.70 along with his winning mark in the high jump.

In the men's field events, sophomore Travis Toth was third in the weight at 54-2 1/2, followed by sophomore Mike Smith (6th - 49-9 1/4) and sophomore Casey Ciaston (9th - 46-11). Toth was also ESU's top finisher in the shot put, placing 10th at 41-0 1/2.

For the women on the track, Pierantozzi was fifth in the 200m (28.07) along with winning the 55m dash. Senior Julie Granteed was third behind Ventrella in the 55m hurdles in 8.87 after running a career-best 8.85 in the prelims.

Junior Kim Lowry was second in the 1000m (3:26.04) and junior Kim Wernerspach was second in the mile (5:19.28). Wernerspach, Rosario, freshman Heather Spadola and Lowry were second in the 4x800m relay in 10:23.91.

In the pole vault, junior Laura Beimfohr  tied for third and freshman Julia Molloy was sixth, both clearing 10-6. Junior Elizabeth Madden was third in the weight throw at 47-10. Beimfohr and Madden both hold school records in their events.
