EAST STROUDSBURG – Koehler Fieldhouse was full of wrestlers on Sunday as the East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team hosted the 53rd edition of the ESU Open with over 15 programs represented.
Freshman
Nick Nittoli was one of three ESU wrestlers to appear at 285 pounds for the Warriors along with freshman
Isaac Cayo and sophomore
Jayvon Davidson. Nittoli recorded a third-place finish for ESU after winning five consecutive bouts.
He dropped his first bout via an 8-0 major decision before tallying a 9-0 major decision victory against Kutztown's Brody O'Connell. Nittoli also notched a 3-1 decision against William Baldwin, who was wrestling unattached on the day.
Freshman
Bryce Parenti went 1-2 for the Warriors at 133 pounds on the day as he recorded a 7-4 decision against Kaleb Cook from Emmanuel College. At 141 pounds, a pair of freshmen each recorded a victory for the Warriors as
Jack Dardia tallied an 11-7 decision against Revi Arauki from Centenary, while
Christopher McMonegal notched a pin (5:30) against RPI's Kitan Salako.
Junior
Marquan Payne went 2-2 for ESU at 157 pounds with wins against Centenary's Stanley Wojdylak (7-5 decision) and Julio Alegria (4:47 pin). Senior
Pierre Liciaga started with a pair of wins against Julio Alegria (6-4 decision) and Alec English (17-4 major decision).
At 165 pounds, freshman
Nick Weikel notched one victory via a 12-4 decision against Emmanuel College's Kristian Steed. Sophomore Ronnie Simmons. Jr. went 2-2 with a pin and major decision victory. Freshman
Terrell White posted one victory at 165 pounds for ESU against Centenary's Perry Maio.
ESU returns to the dual portion of its schedule on Nov. 20 with a matchup at the University of Scranton beginning at 7 p.m.
