EAST STROUDSBURG – Despite rallying from a 16-7 deficit and eventually taking a late lead, the East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling dropped a 25-17 decision to Muhlenberg College on Tuesday night inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU (0-3) started the dual with a 6-0 deficit against the Mules following a forfeit at 125 pounds. The Warriors tallied four victories on the night, including back-to-back bouts at 174 and 184 pounds.
Junior
Nick Conetta made his season-debut in dual action for the Warriors at 133 pounds and would record a 7-5 decision to cut Muhlenberg's lead in half, 6-3. The Mules responded with consecutive decisions at 133 and 141 pounds to increase their advantage to 12-3.

Marquan Payne would give the Warriors some momentum in the match as his 14-3 major decision victory at 157 pounds trimmed the gap to 12-7. Payne improved his dual record to 3-0 on the season after entering the match ranked sixth in Super Region I.

Mike Raccioppi put his undefeated record on the line against Muhlenberg's Brian Jamison. The Mules controlled the momentum early in the bout before Raccioppi responded to take a double-digit advantage. His 21-7 major decision victory trimmed ESU's deficit to 16-11.
The Warriors would take their lone lead of the night following a pin from senior
Elliot Riddick, who made his dual debut for ESU at 184 pounds. Riddick showed great discipline and conditioning as his pin would come at the 5:23 mark to make it 17-16.
The Mules would answer with a pin of their own at 197 pounds as Luca Colestock tallied six points after taking down freshman
Clayton Green at the 3:13 mark. Freshman
Nick Nittoli looked to either knot the match or give ESU a victory in the final bout of the night but would fall short. The Mules tallied a 6-3 decision to secure three points and the dual 25-17 against ESU.
ESU returns to dual action on January 25 as the Warriors head to Millersville for a PSAC matchup against Millersville beginning at 1 p.m. The Warriors host Mercyhurst and Gannon in a pair of duals at Koehler Fieldhouse on February 2 beginning at 12 p.m.
