Warriors Down Millersville in PSAC Dual, 31-12; ESU Wins Six of Eight Contested Bouts

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team won six contested bouts on Saturday afternoon as the Warriors rolled to a 31-12 victory against Millersville inside Pucillo Gymnasium.
 
ESU (1-3) claimed its first dual victory of the season and defeated the Marauders for the second-straight year. The Warriors faced their first PSAC competition in a dual setting since opening the season at home against Pitt-Johnstown on November 1.
 
Junior Nick Conetta trimmed the deficit for the Warriors to 6-4 following his 14-3 victory via major decision against Millersville's Moot Wiggins at 133 pounds. The Marauders opened the dual with a 6-0 advantage following a forfeit by the Warriors at 125 pounds.
 
The Warriors trailed 9-4 in the match heading to 149 pounds after freshman Matthew Rosa dropped an 8-2 decision at 141 pounds. Senior Pierre Liciaga would get the Warriors back on track thanks to his victory against Jackson Erb via an 8-6 decision.
 
Liciaga's win at 149 pounds would be the first of five in a row for ESU, who took the lead for good after junior Marquan Payne recorded a 9-5 decision against Millersville's Brandon Connor at 157 pounds.
 
ESU increased its lead to 16-9 following a forfeit by the Marauders at 165 pounds as freshman Nick Weikel would be declared the winner for the Warriors. Redshirt senior Mike Raccioppi remained unbeaten on the season as the top-ranked wrestler in Division II recorded a 19-1 tech fall victory in 3:37 against Millersville's Malik Johnson at 174 pounds.
 
Senior Elliot Riddick would increase ESU's lead to 25-9 after he tallied a 12-4 victory via major decision at 184 pounds. Freshman Nick Nittoli closed the match for the Warriors with a victory via fall in 4:06 against Millersville's Josh Walls at 285 pounds.
 
Nittoli secured the 31-12 victory for the Warriors, who return home to host a pair of PSAC duals against Gannon and Mercyhurst on February 2 inside Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors will battle Gannon at 12 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. tilt against Mercyhurst at 2 p.m.
