EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt senior
Mike Raccioppi and senior
Elliot Riddick both remained undefeated on the season in dual competition as the two won their bouts at 174 and 184 pounds for the Warriors. East Stroudsburg would fall in the match against Seton Hill, 31-10.
ESU (3-7, 2-4 PSAC) would drop five of the first six contested bouts on the night as the Griffins took a 25-0 lead against the Warriors. ESU forfeited the 125-pound bout to open the match.
Raccioppi improved his overall record on the season to 18-0 and pushed his dual record to 10-0 as he recorded his 10th victory by fall for the Warriors. He would need just 58 seconds to pin Seton Hill's Brandon Matthews and get the Warriors onto the scoreboard with six points at 174 pounds.
Riddick followed with a major decision victory for ESU at 184 pounds as he used a 15-6 score against Seton Hill's Joey Romjue to secure four points and trim the deficit to 25- 10. Riddick improved to 11-1 overall on the season for the Warriors and moved to 8-0 in dual matchups. The major decision victory was the second of the season for Riddick.
Junior
Christian Smith made his home debut for the Warriors this season as he faced Seton Hill's Logan McKoy at 157 pounds. Smith tallied several escape points in the bout before McKoy gained momentum in the third period. McKoy would go on to notch a 17-7 major decision victory in the bout for the Griffins.
Junior
Sczar Charles wrestled in a dual matchup at home for the second time this season for ESU and would be matched up against Seton Hill's Billy Bowlen at 197 pounds. Charles kept the bout close against Bowlen, who entered ranked nationally at 197 pounds in Division II. Bowlen used a third-period charge to record an 8-5 decision and secure three points for the Griffins.
Freshman
Nick Weikel looked to record the third victory of the night for the Warriors at 165 pounds. Weikel rallied in the third period to trim the deficit against Seton Hill's Alec Shaw to just two points before Shaw used a late takedown to secure the 13-9 decision.
ESU closes the regular-season portion of its schedule with a home dual against PSAC foe and nationally-ranked Kutztown on February 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Warriors will honor members of their senior class prior to the start of the dual against the Golden Bears. The NCAA Super Region I Tournament will be held on February 29 in Erie, Pa.
