ADRIAN, Mich. – The East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling program was part of a historic day on Friday as Adrian College hosted the inaugural Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships that featured 19 NCAA schools.
The Warriors were paced by freshman
Tatyana Ortiz, who entered the tournament ranked No. 2 at 109 pounds. Ortiz opened the day with a tech fall victory against Angelina Graff from North Central College to advance to the second championship round.
Ortiz received a bye into the quarterfinals at 109 before facing Aleeah Gould from King University (TN) in the quarterfinals. Gould would avenge a loss from earlier this year against Ortiz as she recorded an 8-7 decision to advance to the semifinals.
Ortiz finished her day by advancing to the consolation quarterfinals with a 7-3 decision against Clare Garcia from Emmanuel College. She is guaranteed at least an eighth-place finish in the tournament for the Warriors but will have a chance to wrestle her way into the third-place match on Saturday.
The Warriors would also get victories on the day from freshman
Lakiesha Sullivan (109), sophomore
Josselinne Campos (130), and sophomore
Alyssa Marinaccio (143).
Sullivan won her first match via a tech fall before being pinned in each of her next two bouts for the Warriors. Campos would battle back in the consolation first round after dropping an 8-4 decision in the first championship round. Campos would pin Addison Young from Wisconsin – Stevens Point before falling short against Destiny Benjamin from Ferrum.
Marinaccio received a bye to open her day for the Warriors and battled against Kaylee Lacy from Colorado Mesa in the second championship round. She would drop a 10-0 tech fall decision but later responded with a pin to advance to the consolation third round. Marinaccio would be pinned by Paulina Jimenez to end her day.

Shola Cascen each wrestled a pair of matches for ESU but would be unable to secure their first victory at the tournament. The Warriors currently sit 18th out of 19 institutions following day one of the tournament and tallied 11 points. McKendree University leads the team standings with 106.5 points heading into Championship Saturday.
Day two will open at 10 a.m. and will feature championship round semifinal matches along with consolation quarterfinal and semifinal bouts. There will also be place matches for third, fifth, and seventh-place. The championship finals will commence at 4 p.m. to close the tournament.
