5/5/2020 7:34:00 PM

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University junior Lauren Reightneour was announced as the PSAC Champion Scholar for women's outdoor track and field on Wednesday.

The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average among all women's outdoor track and field student-athletes in the PSAC. Reightneour owns a perfect 4.0 GPA as a health and physical education major at ESU.

Reightneour posted the best times of her outdoor career in both the 800m and 1500m during the 2019 season. In the 800m, she clocked in at 2:37.43 at the Millersville Metrics meet, and posted a time of 5:34.18 in the 1500m later in the same month at the Moravian Invitational.

Reightneour becomes ESU's 19th Champion Scholar since the program was instituted in 2011-12, and she's the fourth member of the ESU women's track and field program to earn the honor. The Warriors have now taken home the award in women's outdoor track and field in three straight seasons, as Reightneour follows up Abigail Kaspszyk (2017-18) and Rachael Davalos (2018-19).

ESU student-athletes have earned three Champion Scholar Awards during the 2019-20 academic year, with Reightneour joining Lynsy Gruwell (women's soccer) and Cassie Ksiazek (women's basketball).
