LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – After not allowing a goal in five of his past six starts, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced on Monday that East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team announced on Monday afternoon that freshman goalkeeper Helgi Hermannsson was named the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.
With the Warriors (8-8-2, 7-3-2) needing excellent goalkeeper play down the stretch to qualify for the postseason, Hermannsson provided just that. The native of Iceland has recoded shutouts in five of his past six contests and has allowed just one goal, which came against nationally-ranked Mercy in non-conference play, over his past 540 minutes in goal. Over the past six contests, he has made 23 saves while conceding the lone goal.

It marks the fourth time this season a Warrior freshman goalkeeper has earned the honor, with classmate Brayden Evans earning the honor on three occasions this season.
In eight contests this season, Hermannsson paces the Warrior goalkeepers with a 0.67 goals-against average and a 0.839 save percentage with five shutouts in six starts.
Hermannsson and the second-seed Warriors host third-seed West Chester on Tuesday night at Eiler-Martin Stadium. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
