LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — On the back of a second-half goal from
Jeter Cardona, the Warriors claimed their first tournament win in four years with a 1-0 victory over the Lock Haven Bald Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warriors started the game with a strong offense, taking a shot at the net just three minutes into the game and another just a few minutes later. ESU also controlled the ball defensively, keeping Lock Haven from getting a shot off until the 15th minute. The trend continued until halftime with both teams coming off the field scoreless.
• The second half looked to be much the same as the first, as
Steven Arias immediately drove down to Bald Eagles' territory, but missed high on his shot. The Warriors remained persistent with their attack, getting two more looks by the 55-minute mark. After a turnover on a Lock Haven throw-in, ESU moved the ball quickly to the other side of the field to find
Jeter Cardona with just one defender on him. With shifty moves, Cardona broke by his coverage to find the far side of the net and score the first goal of the game.
• The Warriors continued to control the ball down the stretch, making strong charges offensively while preventing the Bald Eagles from getting any looks. The closing minutes became a defensive stand for ESU as they successfully held on to the lead.
GAME NOTES
• Cardona's goal serves as his fourth game-winner this season on five total goals. It also gives the sophomore the lone spot as the second-leading scorer for the Warriors.
• Lock Haven's one shot on goal is the fewest by an opponent since 2024. That year, ESU held two teams to a single attempt on target, those being Millersville and Lock Haven.
