Albion, Mich. – Led by three first-place finishers and 11 wrestlers placing in the top-six, the East Stroudsburg women's wrestling team finished in second place, just single point out of first place at the Albion Invitational on Sunday at Kresge Gymnasium.

ESU posted 89.5 team points, just a point behind Adrian's 90.5 team score. Leading the way for the Warriors were Haley Delia (101), Emily Klein (116) and Sofia Macaluso (123), who each won their weight class. Mia Macaluso took second-place at 130, while Waverly KaneLong earned third place at 116.

Also placing for ESU were Gianna Amendola (4th place, 123), Damiana Racciatti (4th place, 170), Natalie Dunn (5th place, 116), Sophia Lombardo (5th place, 170), Madeline Ridge (6th place, 116) and Carmela Cancelmo (6th place, 123).

Notables
  • Haley Delia posted a pair of wins against Trinity Valentin of Northern Michigan, the only two competitors at 101. She picked up a fall in each match, pinning Valentin at 2:29 in the first match and 1:17 in the championship match to earn the first-place finish at 101.
  • Emily Klein paced four Warrior wrestlers at 116. After a bye, Klein picked up a pin in 1:28 over Natalie Gonzalez and then defeated teammate WaverlyKanle Long with a 12-2 tech fall to advance to the finals. Klein picked up a 14-4 tech fall in the final match to win 116 over Angela LoRusso.
  • #6 Sofia Macaluso cruised through the competition at 123, with a 13-0 tech fall, a pin over teammate Carmela Cancelmo (0:29) and a pin over Albion's Jayla Oberst (1:54) to claim first-place.
  • #5 Mia Macaluso earned runner-up honors at 130, after a bye, a pin in 1:14, and another pin at 1:04 in the semifinal. She fell in the first-place match to Alexis Janiak of Aurora, with a 16-12 decision.
  • KaneLong joined Klein at 116. After a bye, the Massachusetts native picked up a pin over Carthage's Natalie Majer, but then fell to teammate and eventual champion Klein by tech fall. She bounced back with wins in the consolation semifinals with a pin over teammate Madeline Ridge (5:11) and secured third place by defeating Majer again by pin, this time at the 0:55 mark.
