Men’s Wrestling Rolls Past Springfield Technical Community College, 41-9

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team was in action for the second straight day, taking down Springfield Technical Community College, 41-9, on Thursday evening.

The Warriors open the year 2-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 season.

Notables

·         Freshman Ben Makaritis (125 pounds), sophomore Kelvin Rodriguez-Molina (133 pounds), sophomore Brain Lombardi (149 pounds), sophomore Luke Ciampa (165 pounds) and sophomore Kody Edwards (285 pounds) each recorded a pin for the Warriors

·         Making their ESU debuts, freshman CJ Ross (174 pounds) and junior Davis Lee (184 pounds) both notched a major decision

·         Wrestling at 197 pounds, sophomore Ajay Hiller picked up his first victory of the season with a 4-2 decision against STCC's Stephano Magny

·         Junior Matthew Richardson moved to 2-0 on the year after producing a 22-7 major decision in an extra match at 197 pounds

·         The Rams are coached by Alberto Nieves, the brother of four-year head coach at ESU, Anibal Nieves.
