EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University freshman Elizabeth Makar was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday after winning the shot put and breaking her own school record at last Friday's Bucknell Bison Open & Multi.

A week after eclipsing a 15-year-old program record at Gerhard Fieldhouse, Makar rebroke her record with a throw of 14.35m in the exact same spot on her way to a first place finish.

The Oxford, Pa. native's most recent performance is the best in the PSAC this season and currently ranks 14th in NCAA Division II. Makar has recorded a PSAC qualifying mark at every meet this season and it also the second time she's surpassed the NCAA provisional standard in as many meets.

Makar now holds the shot put school records for both indoor and outdoor.

The weekly award is the first of Makar's career and first indoor weekly honor for ESU since Me'Saj Closs won PSAC Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 21, 2020.
