STROUDSBURG – Playing in their home opener, the East Stroudsburg University baseball team extended its winning streak to six after taking both games of the doubleheader from Clarion, 11-2 and 11-1, on Wednesday at Creekview Park.
ESU moved to 7-2 on the season after outscoring the Golden Eagles (0-6) 21-3 in the twin bill.
Redshirt senior Justin Guidos picked up the victory in the opener after firing 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits while matching his career-high with seven strikeouts.
Making his first start since 2019, Mike Yates was the game two winner after throwing 5.0 innings, yielding only three hits to go along with a career-best six punchouts.
In the opener, the Warriors scored five runs in both the third and fourth innings to help pull away from the Golden Eagles. Anthony Torreullas, Tommy Dunleavy and Tim Haverstick paced the offense with three runs batted in a piece.
The Warriors followed up in game two with 10 runs on 12 hits, which included a two-run blast from Brock Kauffman in the fifth inning to give ESU a commanding lead.
Notables
- In his leadoff spot, Brainy Rojas went day 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI and three walks
- Haverstick finished the day 5-for-9 with five RBI while Torreullas was 3-for-8 with 4 RBI and two runs scored
- By recording three more RBI today, Kauffman has moved into third all-time in program history with 130 in his career

How it Happened – Game One
Following a scoreless first inning for ESU, the Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a blast to deep center field from Dunleavy with one out.
Just an inning later, the Warriors used timely hitting to score five runs on only two hits to push their advantage to 6-0. With one out, Piripavel took a walk and Kauffman was hit by a pitch to set up Torreullas, who delivered an RBI single to right field.
After Peechatka worked a free pass to load the bases, Dunleavy hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Kauffman to make the score 3-0. Haverstick followed by breaking the game on open on a three-run bomb to right field to put ESU ahead by six.
It was deja vu for the Warriors in the bottom of the fourth inning as they tacked on five more runs to push their advantage to 11-0. Jeremy Piatkiewicz got ESU with started with a walk before stealing second and advancing home on a single by Rojas. Following a pitching change, an error allowed Pirpavel to reach before him and Rojas came around to score on a triple from Torreullas. Dunleavy capped off the inning with an RBI groundout.
Clarion was finally able to get on the board in their final at-bats as a pair of hits led to two runs.
How it Happened – Game Two
ESU wasted no time in the second game as they used a pair of hits to push across a run in the top of the first inning. Rojas led off with a single and advanced to third with two outs before a good piece of hitting my Toreullas to bring him home.
The Warriors pushed their lead to 2-0 quickly in the bottom of the second inning as Jack Rothenhausler scored from second on an RBI base knock from Drew Hefner.
In the home half of the fifth inning, ESU extended their advantage to 4-0 on the first home run of the season from Kauffman. Piripavel set up the redshirt senior after leading off with a single.
Following a pitching change by ESU in the top of the sixth, Clarion got on the board with one run on two hits to make the score 4-1. Caden Contant smacked a double to bring home Scott McManamon.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Warriors took advantage of a two-out error by the Golden Eagles to push their lead to 6-1. Torreullas reached which allowed Rojas to come home and he eventually scored following a double by Haverstick.
ESU added to their lead in their final at-bats using four runs on two hits to make the score 10-1. Rojas walked with the bases loaded, Piripavel followed with a double and Kauffman grounded out to drive home the 10th run.
