EAST STROUDSBURG – Making their return to Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday, the East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team won four events at the 22nd Annual DeSchriver Invitational.
After not being able to host the event a year ago, the Warriors were victorious in four events which included Romanley Turnier (high jump), Daniel Daley (55m hurdles), Cole Gorham (shot put) and the 4x200m relay team.
Running Highlights
With over half the runners in the 55m hurdles, ESU took the top five spots with Daniel Daley leading the way in first with a personal-best time of 7.99. Following were Caleb Carney (2nd-8.03), Nasir Kyle (3rd-8.41), Eric Krzyzaniak (4th-8.50) and Ivan Hicks (5th-8.50).
In the 55m, Raul Esteves finished second (6.66) and Austin Nice was fifth with a time of 6.73.
ESU took second through fourth in the 400m as Ryan Ditty led the way in second at 51.86 followed by Sean Roberts (52.07) in third and Zephyr Crestwell (52.20) taking fourth.
Tyler Boone was the runner-up in the 200m after clocking a time of 23.18 and racing in the 3000m for the first time in his career, Brian McGarity was second after finishing in 9:09.61.
In the other distance events, Alejandro Paez put together a strong third place finish in the 800m after running a personal-best time of 2:01.19 and Luke Valdevit was fourth in the 1000m (2:35.99).
Running in the 5000m, Camden Shaffer clocked a personal-best time of 16:21.72 to earn a third place finish in the event.
In the 4x200m relay, the Warriors featured two squads with Esteves, Boone, Ditty and Roberts taking first with a time of 1:31.21 while Nice, Trey Boyd, Jayden Browne and Caleb Diaz took third after finishing in 1:37.55.
Featuring four different relay teams in the 4x400m, ESU finished as high as second with the group of Ditty, Boyd, Crestwell and Boone clocking a time of 3:27.47.
Field Event Highlights
On his way to claiming the top spot in the high jump, Turnier cleared a season-best height of 1.95m while Aaron Sanchez was in fifth after clearing 1.85m.
ESU claimed the top-two spots in the shot put with Cole Gorham winning the event on a throw of 15.48m while Isaac Almoney was the runner-up at 14.80m.
Robert Plumb finished as the runner-up in the pole vault after the clearing the bar at a season-best height of 4.05m.
Daryn Blackwell put together a career day in the weight throw on his way to third place finish as he recorded a toss of 16.68m, which is the sixth furthest mark in school history. Almoney rounded out the top-five with a throw of 15.71m.
In the long jump, the Warriors had individuals place sixth through 10th, with Jack Gorham leading the way (6th-6.30m), followed by Nice (7th-6.18m), Ivan Hicks (8th-6.18m), Aaron Sanchez (9th-6.10m) and Caleb Carney (10th-6.06m).
