EAST STROUDSBURG – Former East Stroudsburg University utility player Anthony Torreullas has signed a professional contract to play for the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League.

The Evansville Otters are based in Evansville, Indiana and compete in the West Division of the Frontier League. The Otters were established in 1995 and play their home games at the historic Bosse Field, which originally opened in 1915. The Otters are the oldest current team in the Frontier League and have won two championships.

As a redshirt senior, Torreullas earned D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors after starting 60 of ESU's 61 games, hitting .301 with a .406 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage to go with 10 doubles, two triples, nine HR, 54 RBI and 41 runs while going 10-for-13 on stolen bases.

After transferring from Nyack, the New Holland native spent four seasons with the Warriors, where he was a career .321 hitter with 142 hits, 34 doubles, 21 homers, 123 RBI and 100 runs scored. Torreullas is tied for the second most home runs in program history and as a junior, he was an All-PSAC East 1st team selection at utility.

The Frontier League is a professional independent baseball league with teams in the Northeastern and Midwestern United States and Eastern Canada. Formed in 1993, it is the oldest currently running independent league in the United States. In 2020, the Frontier League, together with the American Association and the Atlantic League, became an official MLB Partner League.
