EAST STROUDSBURG – Another East Stroudsburg University softball player has signed a professional contact, as ESU left fielder and recent graduate Ashley Spencer will join the defending national champion of Belgium in the Stabroek Chicaboo's.

"I'm very thankful for this opportunity," said Spencer of her first professional experience. "I am excited to extend my career as a player and to represent ESU as I do it.
"

Spencer owns a career .307 batting average in 169 games played as a Warrior. She became the program's all-time RBIs leader during her final season, becoming the only player in ESU history to surpass 100 career RBIs (105).  This past season, the Ronkonkoma, N.Y. product led the Warriors in RBIs (32) doubles (10) and home runs (4).
Spencer's power and excellent defense was vital to ESU's record setting 34-11 season in 2022.

"I am very excited for Ashley and proud of her to sign pro softball for a great club in Belgium," said ESU head softball coach Jaime Wohlbach. "Ashley was a five-year starter for the Warriors and left her heart on the field every game. She was a leader, broke several offensive records and developed into an amazing outfielder with power at the plate."

With the Chicaboo's winning the 2021 Women's Softball Belgian Series, Spencer and her new squad will compete in the European Championships this August in Avigliana, Italy just outside of Turin.

Spencer's teammate, Kaitlyn Caleen also recently signed a professional contract. Caleen plays for the Roef! Dame 1 in the Netherlands.
