EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After a remarkable week that saw East Stroudsburg University men's basketball forward Carlos Pepin average 27.5 points, 12 rebounds and shoot at an 87.5 percent clip the Division II Conference Information Director's Association announced that Carlos Pepin was named the D2CIDA National Player of the Week.
Pepin, who was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, led the Warriors by averaging 27.5 points, 12 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.0 steals in two dominant Warrior wins against Shippensburg and Mansfield.
The Lodi, N.J. native registered a career-best 37 points against Shippensburg, draining 14-of-17 field goal attempts and cleaned the glass with 14 rebounds. He followed up that performance with 18 points, 12 rebounds and made all seven of his field goal attempts in just 16 minutes on the floor against Mansfield
ESU dominated both Shippensburg and Mansfield, with a pair of 30-pt wins against its first two PSAC East foes.
Nationally, the graduate student ranks third in offensive rebounds (4.25, 1st in PSAC) and ninth in double-doubles (6, 2nd in PSAC). Among conference opposition, Pepin ranks among the best in scoring (2nd, 19.4 ppg), rebounding (3rd, 10.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (3rd, .583). He leads the top offense in the league that ranks third nationally that averages 97.2 points per game.
The honor marks the second for a Warrior this season, joining teammate Lakeem McAliley, who won the award during the first week of the season.
Pepin and the nationally-ranked Warriors (12-1, 6-1 PSAC) host Bloomsburg (0-10, 0-6 PSAC) on Wednesday evening inside Koehler Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m., with live coverage regionally on Blue Ridge TV 13, the PSAC Sports Digital Network and Bigfoot Country Poconos 103.1 FM and 840 AM.
