Ciampa’s First Place Finish Leads Strong Performance for Warriors at Will Abele Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE – Along with a first place finish from Luke Ciampa, the East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team posted 12 other top-eight finishers for a strong performance at the Will Abele Invitational, hosted by Ursinus on Saturday at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center.  
Notables
  • Ciampa cruised through the competition at 165 pounds to earn his third first-place finish of the season as the sophomore finished 5-0, notching three consecutive pins before grinding out a 9-6 decision over Western New England's Sean Monteiro in the finals The Jefferson, N.J. native improves his record on the year to 17-3 with 10 falls.
  • At 125 pounds, Josh Jasionowicz took third after winning his first two matches with a fall, while Brady Carter recorded a decision, a pin and a major decision on his waying to earning a fourth place finish. Jasionowicz was scheduled to wrestle Carter, who withdrew with a medical forfeit, in the third place bout.
  • Eric Falleni rolled through his first three bouts of the day at 149 pounds with a pair of pins and a technical fall before ultimately earning a third place finish with a 3-0 decision against Ursinus' Dante Monaco
  • After winning his first two bouts of the day with falls at 149 pounds, Brian Lombardi responded following his only loos with three straight victories, including a 3-2 decision over Gettysburg's Eric Mougalian to take fifth place
  • After dropping his opening match of the day, Zach Lewis ripped off five straight victories at 149 pounds before a medical forfeit ended his invitational with an eight place finish
  • Despite opening the event with a loss, Bryce Parenti clawed his way back with five consecutive victories to post a fifth place finish at 157 pounds Parenti posted four decisions and a pin before a no contest in his last match.
  • Making his season debut at 157 pounds, Jaccob Gonzalez secured an eighth place finish using a pair of technical falls and a pin
  • At 174 pounds, Robert Burke showed his resilience as freshman tallied four straight victories which included a major decision and a fall to post a seventh place finish
  • The Warriors had three wrestlers earn top-eight finishes at 184 pounds as Davis Lee led the way in fifth as the junior went 5-1 with three pins as well as medical forfeit over teammate Josh Leidig (4-1), who took sixth. Max Winkler rounded it out in eighth as the freshman finished with a pair of falls
  • Using a trio of decisions at 197 pounds, Ajay Hiller notched a third place finish as the Stroudsburg native secured the placement with a 6-3 victory over Darby Mclaughlin (Western New England)
