#11 Gannon Pulls Away From Men’s Wrestling

EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team was within striking distance of #11 Gannon as the Warriors trailed 12-10, however the Golden Knights produced four straight falls down the stretch to pull away, 36-10, on Saturday morning inside Koehler Fieldhouse.

Taking on a nationally ranked foe for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Warriors fall to 3-6 on the season and 0-4 in the conference, while the Golden Knights pick up their third straight victory to put their record at 7-5 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC.

  • The Warriors took an early lead through the first two bouts as freshman Brady Carter held on for a 6-5 decision over Gannon's Jose Diaz at 125 pounds to put ESU ahead 3-0
     
  • Junior transfer Cameron Enriquez turned in an impressive performance at 133 pounds as the Stroudsburg native posted a 10- major decision against Chase McLaughlin to push the Warriors' lead to 7-0
     
  • After Gannon jumped in front 12-7, sophomore Luke Ciampa got the Warriors back in track with a 3-1 decision over the Golden Knight's Ethan Richner to make the score 12-10
     
  • The Golden Knights flexed their muscles in the second half of the dual, using four consecutive pins at 174, 194, 197 and 285 to take down the Warriors
     
  • Headed into the month of February, Carter holds a 9-3 overall record, Enriquez sits at 2-1 and Ciampa moves to an impressive 19-3
