Men’s Wrestling Earns First PSAC Dual Victory at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team collected its first conference victory of the season as the Warriors took down Shippensburg, 27-19, in a PSAC dual on Wednesday night at Heiges Field House.

With the victory, the Warriors snap their losing streak and improve to 4-6 on the season and 1-4 in PSAC duals while the Raiders drop to 9-7 and 1-4 in the conference.

  • The Warriors took an early 12-0 lead in the match as Brady Carter (125) and Cameron Enriquez (133) collected forfeit victories at their respective weight classes
     
  • Shippensburg answered with a decision at 141 from Al Miscovish, but ESU responded with 5-4 decision at 149 from Eric Falleni as the junior rode out Reese Polulak the whole two minutes of the third period to earn the riding time point to make the score 15-4
     
  • ESU added six more points with forfeit victory for Jaccob Gonzalez at 157 and sophomore Luke Ciampa (165) notched his 11th consecutive win using a 7-0 decision over Kyler Everly which increased the Warriors' lead to 24-4
     
  • The Raiders got back into the match with a pin at 174 from Nyiem Flucas and a decision from Owen Kock to cut their deficit to 24-13 but sophomore Ajay Hiller closed out the dual with a 9-6 result at 197
     
  • Ciampa improves his overall record on the season to 20-3 and 5-2 in duals. The Jefferson, N.J. native joins Falleni, who moved to 22-8 overall after tonight, as the first wrestlers since Michael Raccioppi in 2018-19 to record 20 wins in a season.
     
  • ESU has now defeated the Raiders in six consecutive duals dating back to 2016-17 and improve their advantage in the all-time series to 37-17-1
