EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University men's wrestler Matthew Richardson was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The organization was formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America and the At-Large Academic All-America ballot includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling.
Richardson becomes sixth overall and fourth individual in program history to be an Academic All-District selection as he joins Brendan McKeown (2011-14), Braden Turner (2012-13) and Sean Carr (2007-08).
A two-time NWCA Division Scholar All-American, Richardson maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.706 as a sport management major.
On the mat in 2022-23, Richardson recorded went 14-10 overall and 3-1 in duals while restling at 197 and 285 pounds. The Boothwyn native finished third at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open as well as sixth at the ESU Open and Albion Invitational.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21.
