Men’s Track & Field Records Six Additional PSAC Marks at River Hawk Invitational

LOWELL, MA. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team competed against a number of Division I, II & III schools on the final day of UMass Lowell's River Hawk Invitational on Friday from The Track at New Balance.

Numerous Warriors notched top-10 finishes in their respective events including the 4x400m relay team (4th), Jaden Johnson (5th – triple jump), Jack Gorham (6th -long jump), Cole Gorham (6th – shot put invitational), Anthony Voto (7th – shot put, 9th – weight throw), Drew Domurat (8th – high jump) and Aaron Sanchez (9th – high jump).  

ESU added six additional PSAC automatic qualifying marks and times which included Tyler Boone (400m), Renaco Limberg (400m), Landon Boyle (3000m), Brian McGarrity (3000m), Tim Gale (800m) and Gorham (long jump).

Running Highlights

In the qualifying portion of the 60m Hurdles, senior Kobe Jenkins recorded a 16th place finish overall with a time of 8.54 to take third in Heat 1.

Miguel Charlery represented ESU in the qualifying section of the 60m dash as the junior raced to a 16th place finish with a time of 7.03. In the other running of the 60m, Justin Gockley took 12th overall and second in his heat with a personal-best time of 7.20.

Boone paced six Warriors in the 400m as the junior took 12th after crossing the line in 48.93, while Limberg was not far behind in 20th at a personal-best 49.59. Both runners posted PSAC automatic qualifying times in the event. Also competing for the Warriors was juniors Zephyr Crestwell (41st – 50.80) and Ryan Ditty (46th – 51.06).

Gale raced to a 16th place finish in 800m with a personal-best and PSAC qualifying time of 1:56.36, while sophomore Emmanuel Gitonga took 32nd with a season-best 1:59.935.

In the 200m, Charlery took 19th with a time of 22.05 and sophomore Justin Gockley finished 60th at 22.91.

On their way to PSAC automatic qualifying times in the 3000m, Boyle clocked a personal-best mark of 8.48.03 to finish 31st and McGarrity was two spots behind in 33rd at 8:49.08. Evan Wooby rounded out the finishes in 51st with a personal-best time of 9:01.44.

In the 4x400m relay, the Warriors "A" squad of Limberg, Crestwell, Jaylen Morrison and Boone took fourth after combing to run a time of 3:19.06, which is tied for the seventh fastest all-time in school history.

The Warriors wrapped up the day on the track with the 5000m as freshmen Ethan Holcomb (33rd – 15:57.97), Bryce Keenoy (41st – 16:13.51), Liam Hansberry (42nd – 16:13.87) and Jack Becker (52nd – 16:31.04) all ran personal-best times.

Field Event Highlights

In the invitational weight throw, Voto continued to move up the ESU record book as the sophomore recorded a personal-best toss of 17.85m (58-6) to slide to fifth all-time and finish ninth overall in a highly competitive field. In the other section of the weight throw, sophomore Josh Meshach recorded a personal-best mark of 13.34m (43-9) to finish 25th.

Gorham continued to shine in the shot put as the junior was sixth overall and was the second-highest finisher among DII throwers with a mark of 16.85m (55-3 ½) in the invitational portion of the event. Voto returned for the shot put where he took seventh with a throw of 14.28m (46-10 ¼). Will Mattei Jr. finished 11th with a mark of 13.95m (45-9 ¼) and Meshach took 13th after recording a season-best toss of 13.79m (45-3).

Johnson increased his NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump as the Sicklerville, N.J. native leaped a personal-best mark 14.67m (48-1 ¾) on his third attempt to finish fifth. Freshman Nasir Heard took 17th after jumping 13.06m (42-10 ¼).

Competing in his first meet of the indoor season, Gorham leaped to a sixth place finish in the long jump with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 7.00m (22-11 ¾), while Heard took 43rd at 6.06m (19-10 ¾).

Domuart paced ESU in the high jump with an eighth place, while Sanchez followed right behind in ninth as the duo both eclipsed 1.95m (6-4 ¾) on their first and second attempts respectively. Johnson finished in a tie for 14th after clearing the bar at 1.90m (6-2 ¾).  

In the pole vault, freshman Carlton Wise took 17th after clearing the bar at a season-best height of 4.05m (13-3 ½) and sophomore Chris Costa finished in 20th with a mark of 4.05m (13-3 ½).

ESU returns to the Poconos next Sunday as the Warriors host the 24th Annual DeSchriver Invitational inside Koehler Fieldhouse and the Zimbar Gym. Throwing events kick off the meet at 9:30 a.m. followed by running events at 11:00 a.m.
