EAST STROUDSBURG – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team placed second at the 57th annual ESU Open on Sunday inside Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU finished with 146 points, with seven wrestlers placing in the top six.
Notables
For the second straight season, ESU produced a first-place finisher. Eric Falleni (1st, 157 pounds) went 5-0 and, in the final match, secured the win with a takedown against his Drexel opponent with under 20 seconds to go.
Layton Schmick (2nd, 285) had another standout performance at the ESU Open, making it back to the final for the second consecutive year. He finished the day with a record of 3-1.
Sean Campbell (3rd, 125) went 4-1, starting the day with two straight pins and dominating his final match to take third.
Gavin Reynolds (3rd, 157) made his ESU Open debut, going 4-1 and winning a narrow 2-0 decision to claim third place.
Matthew Richardson (4th, 197), Brian Lombardi (4th, 149), and Anthony Lawrence (6th, 174) rounded out the top six placements for the Warriors.
