Hackettstown, N.J. — The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team had a strong showing at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open, hosted by Centenary University on Sunday, with five Warriors earning medals and 12 finishing in the top six.
Junior Robert Burke (pictured above) and freshman Evan Thompson both won first-place medals. Sophomores Sean Campbell and Layton Schmick earned second-place medals, while freshman Gavin Reynolds captured his third-place medal after winning his final match. Sophomore Luke Schirmacher and junior Max Winkler both finished fourth in their respective weight classes. Graduate student Eric Falleni, Senior Brian Lombardi, graduate student Matthew Richardson, freshman Brendan Ridge and freshman Augustus Warke all finished sixth.
Burke dominated his competition, winning all of his matches by first-period pins. Thompson also had strong victories, earning a major decision, a pin, and a tech fall to reach the top of the podium. Campbell advanced to the first-place match with a major decision and a third-period pin, while Schmick had two tech falls before his final match. Reynolds won his third-place match by decision, having earned two pins, a tech fall, and a decision to reach that point.

The Warriors will compete Dec. 14 and 15 at the 45th Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. Both days are set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
