KUTZTOWN – The East Stroudsburg University men's wrestling team concluded the regular season by dropping a PSAC dual to #21 Kutztown, 33-12, on Thursday night inside Keystone Arena.
The Warriors finished the season 6-5 overall and 2-5 in the PSAC while the Golden Bears went 5-2 on the year and in the conference.
Notables
- Ajay Hiller earned the Warriors' first decision of the evening as the junior produced a 5-0 victory over Kutztown's Liam Akers at 197 lbs. The East Stroudsburg native moved to 21-10 overall and 6-3 duals headed into the postseason.
- Reigning PSAC Wrestler of the Week and 12th-ranked Layton Schmick picked up right where he left off as the freshman used a 6-1 decision over the Golden Bear's Dustin Swanson for his 10th consecutive victory at 285 lbs. The Carlise native finished 9-1 in duals and goes to the NCAA Super Region I Championships 27-3 overall as well as ranked No. 2 in the region.
- Junior Patrick Noonan improved to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in duals following a forfeit victory at 149 lbs.
- Kutztown got its revenge over the Warriors, who defeated the Golden Bears last year in Koehler Fieldhouse for the first time since February 18, 2014, but the Warriors maintained a 28-13-1 advantage in the all-time series.
