CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – With a pin in 52 seconds over No. 10 Ava Rose of Iowa, No. 7
Mia Macaluso became the first East Stroudsburg University women's wrestler in program history to earn NCWWC All-America status in three seasons and advanced to the second day of the NCWWC National Championships to highlight the day one at the Allegiant Energy PowerHouse on Friday.
Macaluso took down Makayla Correa of Emmanuel with a pin, before advancing to the quarterfinals with a 10-0 tech fall over Zhivanna Magdaleno of Northern Michigan. Macaluso fell in the quarterfinals via decision to No. 2 Amani Jones of North Central. With NCWWC All-America status on the line, Macaluso pinned No. 10 Ava Rose in 52 seconds to advance to Saturday.
She can finish as high as third place on Saturday, with the Otisville, N.Y. native taking a program-best third place a season ago at nationals. Macaluso earned fourth place at 130 in 2022 in her first NCWWC National Championship appearance.

ESU, who had eight representatives at the NCWWC National Championships, stands in 13th place of 49 teams heading into the final day of competition on Saturday.
