Men’s Track & Field Finishes First at Millersville Metrics

MILLERSVILLE – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team delivered another strong performance as the Warriors racked up 195.5 points to finish at the top of the team standings at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday at Biemesderfer Stadium.

The Warriors picked up event wins from Tyler Boone (400m), Jaden Johnson (triple jump), Drew Domurat (triple jump) and Cole Gorham (discus, hammer throw), who recorded his second NCAA provisional mark of the outdoor season in the shot put with a throw of 16.74m. 

Adding additional PSAC automatic qualifying marks and time for ESU was Boone (400m), Ragiariki Lewis (110m hurdles, 400m hurdles), Domurat (high jump), Daniel Smith (high jump), Johnson (high jump), Nasir Heard (triple jump), Marcus McNiel (javelin) and Liam Hansberry (3000m steeplechase).

Running Highlights

ESU dominated the 400m as Boone took home the title after clocking a PSAC automatic qualifying time of 49.00 in Heat 6. Zephyr Crestwell (50.23) followed in third, Zandrew Bowe (50.42) took fourth, Ryan Ditty (50.51) was fifth, Jaylen Morrison (51.7) came in seventh and Trey Boyd (51.75) rounded out the finishes in eighth place.

In the 110m hurdles finals, Lewis finished as the runner-up after crossing the line in 15.21, Kobe Jenkins finished in a tie for fourth at 15.74 and Liam Beifus took sixth with a time of 15.98.

On his way to a third place finish in the 400m hurdles, Lewis ran a personal-best and PSAC automatic qualifying time of 56.78.

In the 200m, Zandray Thompson paced a trio of Warriors with a sixth place as he clocked a time of 22.94. Bryson Gilchrist earned a third place finish the 100m dash after clocking a time of 11.14 and Justin Gockley was seventh at 11.39.

The Warriors claimed a fourth place finish in the 4x400m title as Justin Walters, Andrew Dowdell, Tim Gale and Lucas Thaler combined to cross the line in 3:38.59.

In the 800m, Thaler finished eighth place after crossing the line in 2:02.17. Gale continued to impress as the freshman took ninth place out of 56 runners in the 1500m with a time of 4:10.31.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Hansberry recorded a seventh place finish as the freshman ran a PSAC automatic qualifying time of 10:12.88.  

Field Highlights

ESU had four of the top five finishers in the high jump, including freshman Domurat who claimed the title after clearing the bar at 1.95m. Smith, Johnson and Aaron Sanchez took third through fifth place as the trio all eclipsed a PSAC automatic qualifying height of 1.95m.

The Warriors posted a dominating performance in the discus as ESU claimed five of the top-10 finishers. Cole Gorham took first place for the second straight week in the event as the junior recorded a throw of 51.44m, while sophomore Anthony Voto was right behind in second at a personal-best 48.52m, which ranks sixth all-time in program history. Senior Isaac Almoney took fifth place after recording a mark of 42.06m while Jacob Carney (38.53m) and Josh Meshach (38.32m) finished ninth and 10th respectively.

Gorham and Voto delivered another one-two punch in the shot put as the duo captured first and second places respectively. Gorham launched the spherical ball a personal-best and NCAA provisional mark of 16.74m, while Voto notched a season-best throw of 15.50m. Almoney was not far behind in sixth place after recording a toss of 13.58m.

Johnson secured the title in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 14.45m, which ranks ninth all-time in school history, while Jack Gorham finished as the runner-up with a mark of 14.14m. Heard took fifth place with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 13.63m and freshman Samuel Chedester was right behind in sixth at 13.48m.

In yesterday's hammer throw, Almoney finished as the runner-up with a toss of 55.57m while Voto was right behind in third place after recording a personal-best mark of 55.56m to move up to fifth all-time in the record books. Also competing for the Warriors was Meshach (11th – 44.11m) and Carney (26th – 35.77m).  

Carlton Wise represented the Warriors in the pole vault as the freshman finished seventh place with a height of 3.90m.  

In the long jump, junior Jack Gorham finished as the runner-up with a mark of 6.78m, while Chedester leaped 6.34m to take fifth place.  

Junior Zach Nissley secured a third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 60.30m and McNiel was few spots behind in ninth after recording a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 52.66m.
