Robert Shebelsky Legacy Award

Bob Shebelsky, a longtime ESU assistant coach, made exceptional and enduring contributions to the Warriors' baseball program. Shebelshy not only achieved remarkable success on the field but has also set a benchmark for future generations by inspiring players and coaches alike with his passion and dedication.

Shebelsky served as the assistant baseball coach at ESU for 12 seasons beginning in 2005 and worked with head coach John Kochmansky since 2001 when they began their time together at Pen Argyl High School.

Shebelsky aided as the Warriors' pitching coach, guiding a staff that was annually among the PSAC leaders in ERA and strikeouts per nine innings, and coached three PSAC East Pitchers of the Year - Christian Saveri (2010), Jeremy Gigliotti (2011) and Matt Festa (2016). Festa and Gigliotti are the two highest MLB Draft picks in school history.Shebelsky helped the Warriors win the 2013 PSAC championship, their first since 1971. ESU has qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament in three of the last six seasons (2011, 2013, 2016), including a school-record 38 wins this spring, and has reached the PSAC Tournament in five of the last seven years.

Jason Colletti has been named the first recipient of the Shebelsky Legacy Award. The 2008 graduate appeared in 47 games as a pitcher in the Red and Black. He logged 179.2 innings, striking out 109 batters. Since graduating in 2008, Colletti has become an ambassador to the ESU baseball program. He has attended countless regular season and playoff games both at home and on the road. Colletti has helped in the recruiting of numerous past and current baseball players. He has also taken on a significant role within the ESU Foundation as he has supported a scholarship for the baseball program on a yearly basis. This selfless support in the form of his time, effort and finances of our ESU family makes Jason Colletti the pinnacle of what the spirit of this award is all about as his indelible mark on this program has and will continue long after graduation.
