DANVILLE, Va. — The ESU men's wrestling team completed its weekend in Virginia at the Averett Cougar Open, with Luke Ciampa and Ajay Hiller winning their brackets at 184 and 285.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After finishing as the runner-up in the 184 bracket in the ESU Open, Ciampa came away as the champion at the Averett Cougar Open. The graduate student dominated en route to the first-place finish, winning three matches by technical fall and a fourth by major decision. Ciampa outscored his opponents 65-6 across the four matches.
• Hiller had a similarly dominant day in the 285 bracket, opening with a win by fall in the first minute of his match. After that, Hiller picked up three straight wins by technical fall to make it to the finals, winning the championship match by decision.
• Rounding out the rest of the placements for East Stroudsburg were Munro Davis (fourth place, 133), Brendan Ridge (fourth place, 174), and Mike Waters (fifth place, 197).
