UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH — The East Stroudsburg University women's wrestling team had a stellar day at the John Carroll University Open. Seven Warriors finished in the top two, with two claiming first place.
 
Notables
Olivia Klein and Olivia Palmer finished first for ESU. Palmer dominated her way to the top by pinning three consecutive opponents, including two first-period pins.
 
The five Warriors who finished second were Gianna Amendola, Alanna Barberio, Jade Huerta, Waverly KaneLong, and Isabella Washington-Vasquez.
 
Amendola advanced to the first-place match with a technical fall and a first-period pin. Barberio earned her spot with a first-period pin and a narrow 2-1 decision in the semifinal round. Huerta reached the final after pinning two straight opponents. Kanelong won by decision and a 10-0 technical fall in the semifinal. Washington-Vasquez pinned both her opponents in the first period to reach the first-place match.
 
Up Next
The Warriors will prepare for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Region II Championships on February 23 in Koehler Fieldhouse. The start time is set for 10:00 a.m.
