EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — Men's soccer battled the Millersville Marauders until the final whistle to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday night. With the tie and a Bloomsburg loss, the Warriors have clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time in Head Coach
Tom Mustac's tenure at East Stroudsburg.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams prevented opportunities at the net effectively. After just five total shots in the first 25 minutes of play, the first half ended without another being attempted.
Owen Rennie flipped the pace of the game for ESU, taking two shots 11 minutes into the second half. Both teams continued trading shots down to the closing minutes, when a promising drive led to an open look for Rennie off a deflected
Jace Seara shot that missed just left, ending the game with no score on the board.
GAMES NOTES
• Despite Millersville having seven corner kick opportunities, the Warriors prevented a single shot on goal coming from them. Still, the Marauders led the way in on-target shots, tallying five to the one from ESU.
• Rennie was the main shot-taker for the Warriors, doing so four times with the only shot on goal. Seara and
Steven Arias each recorded two shots, and
Micaiah Clarke earned one.
•
Phil Sykes put on a strong performance in net for ESU, recording his fifth shutout of the season even while facing 10 shots. In those 10, the junior made five saves, the most since the Sept. 5th game against Queens (N.Y.).
