BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — A high-scoring conclusion to the regular season saw the Warriors fall 3-2 to the Bloomsburg Huskies on Thursday night. ESU finishes with a 4-3-3 record in conference play, securing the No. 3 seed in the East for the PSAC tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Despite both teams getting looks at each net, the first half stayed relatively quiet until the final 10 minutes. The Huskies caused a turnover after a goal kick from the Warriors, opening a shot opportunity for the first score of the game. However, just two minutes later, the Warriors answered back as
Bat-Od Buman-Uchral capitalized on a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1.
• Bloomsburg opened the second half hunting another goal, taking three shots in the first five minutes. ESU responded with two shots in a five-second span that were both blocked. The Huskies refused to go on the defensive though, proving to be a viable strategy as they drove down the field to score their second goal and take the lead once again.
• In the 71st minute the Warriors were still looking for an equalizing score. After sending it down field, the ball landed perfectly in front of
Jake van Lierop, allowing him to place the ball on the opposite side of the goal to even the score. It didn't take long for Bloomsburg to mount a charge after, though. Six minutes later, the Huskies answered with the final goal of the game.
GAME NOTES
• The two goals scored ends a three-game scoreless drought for ESU, spanning back to the Oct. 14 matchup against West Chester. Buman-Uchral and van Lierop both scored their third goals of the season. For van Lierop, it serves as his eighth point on the year while Buman-Uchral rakes in his sixth.
